How One Simple Rule Shaped My Life (And Why It Matters for Investors)
Do What You Say You're Going to Do The Simple Philosophy That Changed My Career, My Business, and My Relationships
Dear Friends,
There’s a principle I live by—simple, but powerful:
Do what you say you’re going to do.
In a world full of over-promising and under-delivering, this rule has been my North Star. It’s helped me rise in my tech career, succeed in real estate, earn the trust of investors, and—most importantly—build real, lasting relationships.
I want to share how this one principle shaped every chapter of my life—and why it matters if you're considering investing alongside me.
💼 From IT Projects to Professional Integrity
In my early career as an IT engineer, I was tasked with delivering a complex Citrix-based virtualization project for a major healthcare system. Tight timelines. Skeptical stakeholders. High stakes.
But I gave my word.
And that meant something.
I didn’t sleep much for those six weeks, but I led my team, stayed transparent, and delivered on time. That moment helped define my professional reputation—and it opened doors to leadership roles, larger budgets, and greater trust. It’s not the tech that built my career. It was consistency, transparency, and honesty.
🏚️ Fix-and-Flips Taught Me Accountability
I started investing in real estate with simple fix-and-flip homes. One in particular—a distressed house no one wanted in Hollywood, Florida —was my proving ground.
I gave my word to my partners, my wife, and my team that we’d renovate and flip it in under six months.
That meant managing contractors, solving permitting delays, and navigating surprises. I kept the lines of communication open. I never disappeared. And we got it done—profitable, on time, and on budget.
This led to other fix and flips with partners because I built trust by being consistent, transparent, and honest.
🏢 The 216-Unit Leap—and the Power of Trust
Fast forward: after years of building trust and experience, I stepped into the world of commercial multifamily.
I joined an investment group on a 216-unit project in Kentucky as a limited partner. But I didn’t just write a check—I added value. I communicated. I shared market analysis reports, and I added value. I found solutions when issues came up.
That’s when the lead sponsor pulled me aside and said:
“You show up. You’re dependable. You have incredible work ethic. We want to bring you in as a GP.”
That moment—becoming a General Partner—was a dream milestone. But I didn’t get there by being flashy or lucky. I earned it by being dependable, consistent, and adding value. Simple but powerful I earned this by doing what I said I’d do.
🤝 Relationships, Life, and Long-Term Investing
This philosophy isn’t just about work. It’s how I show up for my wife and kids. For my partners. For the investors who trust me with their money.
Because when you invest with me, you’re not just buying into a property.
You're buying into a promise:
📬 Transparent and timely updates
🤝 Honest conversations when things go right—or wrong
📈 A relentless focus on performance and accountability
